First, start with the basics. I mean the very basics of SEO. If you have been reading and learning so far, then great.

If you go to this website and sign up for the classes this will get you started. They are free. They are very good classes and will get you up to speed.

Here is another assignment. Go here and read this document. As a matter of fact seomoz is great to just read in general.

Here is another great site to get started on as well

This should be enough to get you started. Like I said start with the basics and continue from there. Do not listen to people who have quick schemes. There is a right way and a wrong way to do this, I don't want to sound condescending but MOST of the people you run into on Yahoo Answers really have no clue.

Good Luck and most of all have fun!

I do not agree with Terry R to some extent.

Your website will never be penalised nor get ban if your site has a link from ffa or even a bad network website, unless you link back to these websites.

Otherwise website owners will start submitting their rivals/competitors websites in ffa.
Example: website owner A will start submitting competitor B's website in the ffa sites to make competitor Bs website penalise/ban from search engines.

So the reality is, you can have back links from any website (this will not give your website any adverse result but may not give you a big boost unless they are relevant quality back-links). The reason for suggesting you not to submit your website to such crap websites is just because it is a waste resource which will not benefit your website as it is not a relevant quality back link.

So remember one thing
Back-links from bad website to your website – No adverse effect (for sure)
Back-links from quality relevant website to your website – Good positive effect

Do you think Msn will submit google and yahoo in all the ffa websites to degrade them? :D

ffa - free for all refers to websites that allow anyone to submit their link to a website that has many pages of such links. This is considered spam by Google and will get your website ranked for nothing and possibly have your site removed from Google's index.

Never submit your website to any site that has a large number of links on a page called links, link partners, resources' or anything similar. Reciprocal links only work in moderation and only with sites that are within your same niche.

Getting links from anywhere is not the smart way to rank any website.

Actually, there is nothing wrong with SEO in the eyes of the search engines and they won't flag a site for using the term. Search engines even have guidelines for acceptable practices for how to help your site more search friendly, which is what SEO is all about. SEO's are simply individuals or companies that specialize in understanding how to make websites more search engine friendly.

One can cross the line of acceptable practices, however, by employing tricks that fool the search engines into thinking visitors will find the information they seek on a webpage, when in fact, they will not.

You can start SEO right now, But i would prefer do not start submitting links to articles etc immediately. If you want to start SEO of your website now then i think you should start submitting links to directories, because directories take time to approve your link. Your website will be completed in January and then your website may be live on few directories. Once your website will be completely developed, then you may get links form other resources as well.
